Sichuan's Rain City

Ya'an is located in the west of the Sichuan Basin, 128 kilometers away from Chengdu. It covers an area of 15, 300 square kilometers.

The city is known as "rain city" because of its plentiful rainfall every year and also it is called "stone base" due to its abundant natural granite and marble. In addition, the real "hometown of pandas" since the first panda speciman was found there in 1868 as well as it is the birthplace of tea culture.

The charming landscapes and the unique folk customs of Ya'an attract tourists all over the world. The city is rich in natural, mineral and hydropower resources. Two kinds of rare wild plants, eight species of animal and six species of birds are under state protection.
